  • Federal prosecutors filed a notice that they intend to seek the death penalty against a former soldier from the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in a case charging him with the brutal abuse and murder of an Iraqi family near Mahmudiyah, Iraq..

    The indictment charges Green conspired with other soldiers to brutally kiill four members of an Iraqi family -- a mother (Fakhriya Taha Mohsine Al-Hanabi), father (Kassem Hamza Rachid Al-Janabi), their 14 year-old daughter (Abeer Kassem Hamza Al-Janabi), and 6 year-old daughter (Hadeel Kassem Hamza Al-Janabi).

    Green and another U.S. soldier are also accused of raping the family’s teenage daughter Abeer before shooting her dead inside the family’s home.
