Republican Jason Plummer Files Petitions for Lt. GovernorCampaign will focus on creating new Illinois jobs and restoring ethics in governmentPRNewswireSPRINGFIELD, Ill.Oct. 26

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Jason Plummer, a businessman from downstate Edwardsville, filed his petitions for Lt. Governor in Springfield today and said if elected he would use the office to help create new jobs in Illinois and work to restore ethics in government. If elected, Plummer will bring his unique experience as a successful businessman combined with his conservative Republican principles to revitalize the office of Lt. Governor.

Plummer currently works in the family business, R.P. Lumber, headquartered in Edwardsville, as well as subsidiary companies focusing on property development and technology investments. "As a small businessman, I know what it takes to create new jobs in Illinois," according to Plummer. "Our family is proud and humbled by the fact that we employ hundreds of people in our lumberyards and other companies in Illinois," he said.

"As Lt. Governor I will draw from that experience and use the office as a bully pulpit to help create new and meaningful jobs and revitalize the Illinois economy," Plummer continued. "I will also work with employers, both small and large, to help remove the bureaucratic roadblocks that unnecessarily hinder their ability to grow their businesses and provide job opportunities and career growth to the hardworking people of Illinois," he added.

Plummer pointed to his belief that many of Illinois' economic woes are the result of failed leadership and feels that his business experience combined with his conservative Republican principles make him uniquely qualified to serve. "Unfortunately, it appears that many in the Democratic leadership in Springfield have lost sight of the fact that creating new jobs is the answer. Instead, they have embarked on a path that is easier and more politically expedient but sadly mortgages the future of our children," said Plummer. "The Democratic party leadership in Springfield continues to write checks that we the Illinois taxpayers can't cash," he warned.

"At the same time Springfield punishes Illinois businesses, both small and large, with punitive taxes and frivolous regulations that choke their ability to create new and meaningful jobs and provide healthcare and 401Ks for families," Plummer said.

Plummer continued by saying that taxpayers are fed up with the cost of graft and corruption in Illinois. "Everyone knows that the monkey business that occurs and the sweetheart deals that are cut in Springfield come out of the pockets of taxpayers. Ultimately that behavior has cost taxpayers their hard earned money; it has cost Illinoisans' jobs. Plain and simple, that behavior is no longer acceptable," he added.

Plummer said he is looking forward to meeting voters throughout the state to discuss strategies for kick starting Illinois' economic engine and creating new jobs. "With your help, we will work to create new jobs and new opportunities that will allow the people of Illinois to thrive and prosper for many years to come," he concluded.
