HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Applications for absentee ballots for the November 3 election must be received by county boards of elections by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, said Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro A. Cortes.
"We want every eligible Pennsylvanian to vote in the Nov. 3 municipal election," Cortes said. "If you are qualified to cast an absentee ballot and know that you will not be able to vote in person at your precinct on Election Day, please take action quickly to ensure you have access to an absentee ballot."
Eligible absentee voters include military and overseas citizens, students attending college away from home, people traveling for work-related business, and individuals with illnesses or disabilities that prevent them from getting to the polls.
Applications and specific guidelines for voting absentee are available at the Department of State's voters' education Web site: VotesPA.com.
The deadline for most voters to return an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. on the Friday before the election, Oct. 30. Military and overseas voters have their own timeline for submitting absentee ballots. These ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 2 and received by the county boards of elections by Nov. 10.
Pennsylvanians who are voting for the first time or are voting for the first time in a new precinct are required to provide a copy of one form of identification with their application or ballot, such as a driver's license or a current utility bill that includes the voter's name and address. A complete list of approved forms of identification is available at VotesPA.com.
