CHICAGO, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --Teamsters Joint Council 25 endorsed Pat Quinn for his first full term as Illinois governor today.

"As an advocate of Illinois labor, Gov. Quinn has the experience of fighting for working families and the support of the Teamsters to continue the fight into a full term," said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. "Joint Council 25 represents more than 100,000 men and women statewide who deserve the deference and protection our governor has shown he can deliver."

As governor, Quinn has not hesitated to support Teamster issues and enact labor friendly legislation. He has:

-- Signed a $31 billion comprehensive capital bill to create and retain more than 430,000 jobs over the next six years; -- Signed an amendment to the Labor Relations Act to expedite contracts for public employees; -- Signed a Teamster initiative requiring responsible bidding on school bus contracts; and -- Signed a recent bill establishing the state's first Teamster specialty license plate.

As lieutenant governor, Quinn publicly supported members of Teamsters Local 727 when contract negotiations stalled with Service Corporation International. Since being sworn in as Illinois' 41st governor in January, he has assisted Teamsters Local 786, of which he is an honorary member, with a letter of support for union negotiations with Wilbur Vault Company. Quinn also served as a keynote speaker this year for a Teamsters' Helmets to Hardhats veterans initiative.

An affiliate of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Joint Council 25 represents 22 local unions throughout Illinois.
