Indicted on Federal Corruption Charges

Republican Joseph Bruno, the former New York Senate Majority Leader, was indicted by a federal grand jury on criminal charges accusing him of public corruption by accepting nearly $3.2 million over more than a decade from labor unions.
The charges allege that from 2003 to 2006, Burno engaged in a scheme to defraud New Yorkers by accepting approximately $3.198 million from labor unions seeking state business in exchange for using his official government position to take action on behalf of the unions.
