Harris v. Circuit Judges, et. al (SC00-2345)
In this case, the Florida Supreme Court denied the petition of Florida Secretary of State Harris
to consolidate some voter lawsuits and stop manual recounts.

Palm Beach County Canv. Bd. v. Harris (SC00-2346)
This case began as an action by the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board to obtain an advisory
opinion on whether to continue the manual recount. Initially, the Florida Supreme Court permitted
the manual recount to continue and issued an order that election results could
not be certified. After hearing oral arguments on Monday, November 20th, the Court decided to
extend the certification deadline.

McDermott v. Harris (became SC00-2349)
The issue in this case centered on Florida Secretary of State Harris' discretion to
enforce Florida's November 14 deadline for certifying election results. Initially,
Judge Lewis denied a motion to prevent her from certifying results. However, the ruling was
stayed when the Florida Supreme Court took the case on appeal. Eventually, the Florida Supreme
Court decided to extend the certification deadline.
