True enough, the Beavers have found unparalleled recent success in the Pac-10 conference this season, beating up opponents that used to make quick work out of them. Unfortunately, it appears several Eager Beavers, including receiver Robert Prescott, are pretty damn good at beating the tar out of their neighbors. As a result, Dennis Erickson, who captained many a tarnished squad during his days at the University of Miami, has led this group of large-tailed rodents straight toward the pinnacle of damnation–a place in the 2000 Tarnished Twenty rankings.

How did our furry friends find their way to the wrong side of the pond? Well, according to an indictment handed down by a Benton County, Oregon grand jury, Prescott, as well as receivers James Newson and Alton Adams, could be convicted of aggravated assault for allegedly injuring a fellow partygoer at a Corvallis beaver lodge. In addition, the grand jury also indicted the trio for recklessly endangering another person and for disorderly conduct.

These acts definitely dispel the notion that beavers are friendly little creatures that do no harm other than felling an occasional tree. Perhaps Oregon State's football team should consider swimming downstream towards the warmer climes of Florida, where it seems on the field success harmoniously accompanies off-field crime. So don't be surprised, Beaver backers, if you're a damned awful team next year, considering that some of your best players might be doing time. And until you schedule non-conference teams other than Eastern Washington, stop crying about the BCS as well.
