A federal lawsuit filed in Oregon by a woman who became progressively sicker after allegedly eating the defendants' bagged spinach in August. She had to be hospitalized and required at least four blood transfusions as well as eight plasmapheresis exchanges. She subsquently tested positive for being infected with E. coli O157:H7.
