The detailed allegations filed by Las Vegas police leading to the arrest of O.J. Simpson and three other suspects paint a disturbing scenario of rage, anger, and violence over the disputed ownership of sports memorabilia connected to the ex-football star.

According to Bruce Fromong and Alfred Beardsley, O.J. Simpson and other men broke into the Las Vegas Palace Station hotel room of Thomas Riccio, the owner of a California auction house who ostensibly arranged to meet with Fromong and Beardsley about Fromong's collection of sports memorabilia. In addition to items reportedly having some connection to Simpson, Fromong was said to have some "30-50 Joe Montana lithographs and 24 baseballs signed by Pete Rose and Duke Schneider."

Fromong told police officers that "five black males entered the room" after Riccio left. One of the men was Simpson, according to Frong, and two of them had handguns. Fromong described being assaulted and threatened with guns pointing at him during the altercation.

Beardsley told Vegas police that one of the suspects who threatened him said "I'm a cop and you're lucky this ain't LA or you'd be dead." Beardsley told a detective that "Riccio was 'in on' the robbery because Riccio set up the meeting."

Police who interviewed Simpson at his Palm's hotel room say that he asked two of his female companions to leave the room before talking to detectives, and maintain that "Mr. Simpson said he would like to talk with us but his attorney said not to."

During their interview with another suspect, Walter Alexander, detectives say they "received an anonymous call from a female stating that she was a friend of O.J. Simpson and Nicole Simpson (prior to her slaying)," and that she alleged Alexander "was responsible for supplying the guns the night of the robbery."

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on September 16, 2007, Las Vegas detectives executed a search warrant that appears to have been made at the residence of accused co-conspirator Michael McClinton where to guns were found: a .22 caliber Beretta handgun and a .45 caliber Ruger handgun. Detectives identified each as having "matched [the] weapon[s] described in robbery."
