Colo. teen on police radar before slaying arrest

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — An 18-year-old accused of kidnapping and killing a suburban Denver school girl was on investigators' radar before his mother called to turn him in last fall.

As police sought Jessica Ridgeway's killer, a neighbor called a tip line suggesting they check out Austin Sigg because he seemed obsessed with death.

Westminster police detective Luis Lopez testified Friday that the FBI took a DNA sample from Sigg based on the tip. That was four days before his mother called to say he confessed and that there were human remains in a crawl space at the home.

He said those DNA samples link him to Jessica's remains and clothing.

Prosecutors are laying out their case to show why they think Sigg should stand trial.

Jessica disappeared Oct. 5 while walking to school.
