Hudgins sets FCS record, Elon beats Wofford 34-6
Hudgins, who had 11 catches for 153 yards, had his 24th 100 yard game to surpass NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, who set the previous record from 1981-84 at Mississippi Valley State. Hudgins set the record when Scott Riddle connected with him on a 32-yard touchdown, giving the Phoenix (7-1, 5-0 Southern Conference) a 17-3 lead with 1:22 left in the first quarter. The receiver also had touchdown catches of 10 and 16 yards. Riddle was 31-for-44 passing for 323 yards and one interception for Elon. Brandon Newsome ran for 40 yards on 10 carries, including a 15-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Elon totaled 402 yards on offense compared to the Terriers (2-6, 1-4), who finished with 170 yards. 2009-10-31 22:45:06 GMT
