Yale rallies to beat Columbia 23-22

NEW YORK (AP) - Pat Witt threw two touchdowns and Yale scored three times in the fourth quarter to rally from a 12-point deficit to beat Columbia 23-22 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (4-3, 2-2 Ivy League) trailed 22-10 with 8:32 remaining before Alex Thomas capped a 63-yard drive with a 5-yard run and Witt threw 10 yards to A.J. Haase with 58 seconds left for the decisive score.

The Lions (2-5, 1-3) lost their fourth straight.

Freshman Sean Brackett, who played in his first game, threw three touchdowns and ran for 2-point conversion for the Lions. But he lost two fumbles in the fourth quarter.

Brackett started in place of M.A.Olewale, who had passed for nearly one thousand yards in the season's first six games but was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Witt was 14-for-23 for 166 yards and also had a 20-yard scoring pass to John Sheffield early in the fourth quarter.
