Edwards leads Appalachian State past Furman 52-27

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Armanti Edwards rushed for four touchdowns and had two passing scores to lead Appalachian State to a 52-27 win over Furman on Saturday.

Edwards was 25-for-36 passing for 355 yards and ran for 106 yards on 13 carries to help the Mountaineers (6-2, 5-0 Southern Conference) extend their conference winning streak to 17 games. Appalachian State has also won six straight games.

The Mountaineers jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the second quarter after Edwards threw a 16-yard touchdown to Ben Jordan and the quarterback had rushing scores of 3 and 4 yards. Edwards also had rushing scores of 1 and 5 yards.

Edwards connected with CoCo Hillary on a 21-yard passing score to increase Appalachian State's lead to 49-20 in the third. Matt Cline had eight catches for 122 yards.

Furman's Jordan Sorrells threw for 165 yards and two TDs for the Paladins (4-4, 3-3).
