Democrat Jon Stevens Corzine

AGE - 62; born Jan. 1, 1947, in Willey's Station, Ill.

HOME - Hoboken.

EXPERIENCE: Served in U.S. Senate from 2001-05; elected governor of New Jersey in 2005.

OCCUPATION: Investment banker at Goldman Sachs, working as a bond trader from 1975-80, partner from 1980-99 and chairman and CEO from 1994-99; officer at Continental Illinois National Bank, 1970-73; assistant vice president of BancOhio, 1973-75.

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1969; master's of business administration, University of Chicago, 1973.

FAMILY - Divorced with three children.

Republican Christopher Christie

AGE - 47; born Sept. 6, 1962, in Newark, N.J.

HOME - Mendham.

OCCUPATION - Lawyer. Former U.S. attorney for New Jersey, serving from January 2002 until he resigned on Dec. 1, 2008; previously a partner specializing in securities law and appellate practice at the Cranford-based firm of Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci.

EXPERIENCE: Morris County freeholder, 1995-97, then lost re-election primary in 1997; also lost primary for state Senate seat in 1995; served as fundraiser and New Jersey legal counsel for George W. Bush's 2000 presidential campaign.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in political science, University of Delaware, 1984; law degree, Seton Hall University, 1987.

FAMILY - Married with four children.

Independent Christopher J. Daggett

AGE - 59. Born March 7, 1950, in Orange, N.J.

HOME - Bernards Township

OCCUPATION: Owns Chadwick Management, company specializing in brownfields development; principal, J.M. Sorge Inc., an environmental consulting firm helping cities and towns clean up and redevelop their own polluted industrial sites; managing director, William E. Simon & Sons, a Morristown investment firm, where he focused on identifying environmental industry investment opportunities, 1990-96.

EXPERIENCE: Commissioner, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, 1988-89; regional administrator, federal Environmental Protection Agency, 1984-1988; deputy chief of staff to Republican Gov. Tom Kean, 1982-84; worked on Kean's 1981 campaign for governor and on state Republican Sen. Ray Bateman's 1977 campaign for governor.

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree, University of North Carolina, 1972; doctorate, University of Massachusetts, 1977.
